Hey, you know those offers where you fill in a survey and get 5 of your friends to fill one in and you can win a free ipod or something like that?

How exacly do they work? I heard the website gets paid for having the offers filled in, in which case they must get paid loads?

Or are they all scams?

I always assumed it was just a good way to harvest names, addresses and emails. No idea how they make money assuming the offers are genuine.

dont be tempted

The general idea is the company offering the iPods gets paid say £10 if you take a free trial of a DVD rental company, then you have to get x friends to do the same they get plently of money then use a percentage of it to buy you a gift.

I would assume they are real and not scams.

Basicly it would work, but the company in question is taking a large cut of your cashback, (get 100% of it yourself at Quidco and save the cash for your own iPod)

It's a pyramid scheme, the people who you sign up then each have to find 5 others if they're going to get a free gift, and so on. Whilst their profits increase hugely.

I know someone that got a free Xbox 360 and loads of games from one of those. He did actually get the stuff but I wouldn't be surprised if he was the only person to get anything. He had his name put up on the site because he was the first to get all the referrals you need. I'm guessing first and only.
