Getting a new gas cooker - does it 'have' to be installed by a Corgi certified dude?

Right okay, i'll get it properly done by a gas-safe engineer.

Any idea how much this should cost? (seeing as it should just be a simple case of connecting it to an existing connection).

£50?

Thanks

should be a lot less, find a tidy one that lifes local.
With our house my parents are renting out we found one that fitted for free all we had to do was pay for his fuel, about £5 in total.

Ah cool. Well i'm having a looksie through www.trustatrader.co.uk - although i've had bad experiences using this site before (had someone out to fix my leaking bath - and he ended up splitting it - then i never saw him again lol)

A bit less I'd imagine, as we just had someone re-route a gas pipe to fit a new oven which involved some digging around in the wall (the oven is electric but the hob is gas and the pipe was in the way). Took around an hour and cost £60.

If I recall correctly our oven didn't even come with a gas hose. Its the hose - oven connection that needs to be done by the gas man. The bayonet end can be done by anyone.

Once installed, you can disconnect the bayonet end from the supply and connect it again without fear of recriminations.

there is also checkatrade.

If you're renting I would get it installed by a gas safe certified installer, you may find yourself in breach of contract otherwise.
