How the Hell do I add my Media (Music, Movies and TV Shows) to the Library??...

I've got a large (100Gb so far) Movie collection, TV shows and 65Gb Mosic Collection I want to Add to the relevant sections in the interface!...

But I can't for the life of me find within the Settings how to do this!..

Anyone spouting the virtues of XBMC please point me to how to do this!?!?!...

I've looked on the XBMC site and the Wikki, but got lost in the links from page to page to page!... :(

Please!?!?...

Otherwise its back to VMC/Media Browser

Which skin?

Assuming Confluence:

Go to videos, add source, point it to your tv shows, hit ok or w/e it's called. Set content to TV, run automated scan. Back in the videos menu highlight the new folder, press C and do the scan for new content. Rinse and repeat for movies. For music, basically do the same tihng from the music menu.

Once done, go into XBMC's settings and set it to scan for library updates on startup (exact wording escapes me).

I'm asuming you're using 9.11, rather than 9.04. Regardless the process is basically the same for the different skins.

Did all that... can safly say XMBC is crap!..

it doesn't find any info for any of my movies of TV series..

I'll stick with Media Browser, that knows what my movies are!..

How have you named the files?

I know Plex (XBMC fork for OS X) doesn't like dotted filenames. E.g The.Dark.Knight.avi

You might want to check your file structure is as flat as possible :)

Works just fine for me with as many dots and subfolders as I like. The fact that it's not finding anything at all suggests a problem somewhere else. Is the computer definitely connected to the internet?

Yep.. I just updated Media Browser (some new aquasitions) and it found them no problems!..

i always make sure the Movie titles are 'dotless' etc... I usualy use http://www.themoviedb.org/

Just want to 'de-blue' Media Browser now!..

You should really give xbmc another go, it's the best media centre app out there.
Does it finally allow full external codec and player support?

I went over to the darkside with W7MC + mediabrowser and love the codec flexibility, the main reason I left XBMC.

I hear you can set it up with Core AVC pretty easily.

Does W7MC support VDPpAU?
Being Windows 7, why would it need to ? It supports CUDA and ATIs equivalent and many media apps support this

I have 2 boxes running XBMC, but what has stopped me totally adopting for Home Cinema is the lack of flexibility. I have use arcsoft TMT and mediabrowser running Coreavc with CUDA as my main codec for h264. This plays all my HDDVD / BR / HD video and TV episodes from within W7MC.

Last time I tried XBMC on my HTPC I couldn't play HD-DVD / BR and mkv support was not perfect, hence the question, as it was their insistance on locking codec support and internal player only that made it too inflexible for me.

i tryed XBMC but after using Mediabrowser for so long XBMC just seem hacked together with the way it structures your library, i could never get it to sort like in mediabrowser.

After MediaPortal ;)

XBMC just isn't flexible enough with regards to codecs etc

I thought the same last time I looked - any reason to look at XBMC again? Does it support live TV yet?

I am also building an htpc for someone atm and decided to tey win7 media centre and media browser - I am finding that very frustrating - the movie backdrops seem very slow to update and i though (probably mistakenly) that mediabrowser would support music and photos as well but it seems not

Looking at the next Beta.. it does!!.. plus there are some plugins available on they're forums that do this!...

Still can't get XBMC to do what I want!.. :(

Managed to change the VMC colours to Black (not High Contrast!.. Proper Theme Replacement!! :) )

my only annoyance with XBMC is that you only seem to have Library options for Tv Shows or Movies

i have a large collection of Stand up that i want in its own Section but XBMC does not support this in Library mode, nor will it allow me to seperate out sporting events (UFC) from movies other than that the interface is 10x better than Mediabrowser
