Hey Guys, I need a bit off help with just losing some weight. The deal is about a Year and Half ago I broke up with my Girlfriend and I got a bit down over it and I put on a good bit off weight just by eating all kinds of crap whenever.

Before then I wasn’t exactly slim but I wasn’t overweight. Now I am about 6,4 and I think I weigh about 16 stone maybe more ( Too Scared to get on the scales) I have stretch marks all over my body and it’s an ugly sight and I am just not happy with the look off my body at the minute. Thought the past few years I have started to put on the pounds five years ago I was like really thin! About 2 Years ago I used to be 34-36 Jeans now I am hitting 40 waist which is a bit depressing!

I have started to cut out the crap and try to stick with 3 meals a day and maybe a snack. Also I have tried to cut out all Fizzy Drinks and go with Diet coke and Water. And this week I have started to go out for a walk every night. Lasts about only 30-35 Minutes the first night I went out I came home sweating and needed a drink straight away. Struggled a bit on the walk but I feel I am getting better in the past few nights though.

Now I don’t really want to be a fully toned muscle man not really my style. Just to slim down a bit and attract a new lady friend. Like lose the fat neck and the tummy and moobs! And just not be embarrassed in general in public say at the swimmers about my body. Would be nice to lose about 2-3 stone!

I am going to America at the off end June so i figure it’s a good as time as ever to try and lose a few pounds and get in better health before I go their!

So can anyone give me advice and tips on what to try? I will be honest I aren’t to keen on joining a gym and there is not really any nearby!

there are quite a few websites out there that do really good bodyweight exercises. well worth taking a look.

on top of that, have a look at the stick in this forum from platypus, start going for runs.

lastly, take a look at the sticky by gordyr, not for the weights part, but the food section will give you a good idea of what sort of things you need to think about eating.

Its good that you have started exercising, that combined with a steady diet is all you will need to lose weight. However I would agree with the above that if you want to lose serious weight then get running. Start off really lightly and build up. Even if you can only run for 5 minutes stop and walk again and get your breath back then try and run a bit more.

Running is going to be your friend here mate firstly get some good trainers and some descent running clothing. Set yourself a target of say 1-2 miles, start of by jogging a little a first until you warm up then walk for a bit.

If you do this for a couple of weeks until you can run the whole 2 miles then increase your distance not by much 10% per week from there on until you hit 3 miles. Also increase your pace a little each week.

With a good diet cutting out all crap you should get to where you want to be, just remember it's not an overnight thing it takes time but you'll get there.

same similiar boat mate, i was in a car crash and i put weight on fast beacuse i couldnt physically do much, from it ive got the gut and the horrid stretchie marks on my belly. Before it i played football all the time and keeped generally fit.

Ive started again by getting a excercise bike, and do at least 1hour a day weights with the dumbells, just to get that metabolic rate up again. i wont even talk to lasses at the moment because of the stretchies, and the doctor said they will be permanent, once if lost the gut im getting tattoos over the buggers. maybe you might consider the same, they will fade but never dissapear :(

Dammit I didnt know that strech marks where pernmanent its abit off a downer to be honest :( I have an awful lot around my belly region :( and some around my arms!

i know i was gutted mate, i got them in my arms too because i started weights at a early age and my biceps got big too fast, the doctor told me its basically the top layer of skin has broke away, and the stretchies are the middle layer of your skin showing. mine are reddy purple on my gut, but the doctor told me it will eventually go like my arms, a pale shiny silver type color. This can take 6 months to 2 year to fade, laser treatment can speed the process, but not remove them, and the nhs wont do that so you would have to pay private.

i hate mine because they indent slightly, girls would always say whats that on your arm, they are nothing compared to the belly ones! i want to go swimming and things, but no way with these sticking out :(
