Gigabyte 670 Windforce stock boosts?

Going to purchase one of these as well as a M4 SSD 128GB I can't find on Overclockers a 6 Pin to 8 pin because I have a Corsair TX650 Watt PSU I only have 2 6 pins :D

I'd be pretty disappointed if I purchased a windforce that wouldn't boost over 1300mhz, the memory on these seems to have a high capability for overclocking, should be good up and beyond +700. Saying that 1250 isn't to be written off, you are still getting over stock 680 performance.

Compared to the clocks some are getting 1250 is a bit disappointing I guess, but at the moment it's running everything fine just on stock clocks so pretty happy with it on the whole. Temps and noise levels (or lack of) are great too.

This is the first time I've tried OC'ing a card. Assuming voltage adjustment is opened up at some point am I likely to be able to push the core a bit higher with some slight upping of the voltage?

Does voltage adjustment not currently work on theese cards?

Yes and no, not on the windforce as it auto-runs at 1.175v which is the voltage max. Afaik some of the reference cards may not run directly at 1.175v and can be adjusted to hit that max.

As it stands the only way to raise the voltage higher is a hard-wire volt mod. Been reading the DCUII 680 can run up-to 1.45v modded.

I have a TX750 and pretty sure the 650 is also capable of powering an 8+6 pin card without the need of add on adapters.

Your PCI-E connectors can be used in either a 6 pin or 8 pin (6+2) configuration. If you take a look at the cables your 6 pin PCI-E connectors are attached to you should also see small 2 pin connectors on them. Just a case of slotting both the 6 pin & 2 pin connectors together side by side before plugging them into the card.

Edit: I think this is the original TX650 rather than the V2 but 4:31 shows the connectors you need to use: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEDvHdtYKgAhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEDvHdtYKgA

Mine only does 1137 at stock but I am happy with it.

Same as this.

I can add around +100 on the core to get it just under 1250 but if I add anymore it doesnt go any higher. This is also with +111 (max possible setting) on power target. Does it choke back on the frequency because of temp or something? Saying that it reaches about 50C with the bench running.

Memory seems to go one and on, had that to around +700 thus far.

Im know some poeple have said 1250 isnt spectacular but it runs games just over twice as fast as my old 470 did so I can live with that :D

Ahh, i see. Think if it could unlock i could probably get my core higher, still 1320mhz boost is pretty decent.

100% agree, I'm fairly confident if I could push it even as little as 1.2v I could pass 1400mhz with ease.

Going to spend the day fiddling with bios utils and doing some research.

Isnt yours under water cooling pgi? Shame with such good cooling to be held back by something that has previously been available. I ran my 470's at 800mhz with a slight voltage increase. Not much difference n temps/noise over my stock volt daily clock of 750mhz. Thing is too, this windforce card is barely going over 60c so temps wouldnt be an issue even on air with a voltage increase.

I think there's become a bit of a fixation with boost speed but 1250 is nothing to be sniffed at. A few weeks ago I'm sure most of us would have been pretty delighted to be getting levels of performance at least on a par with a stock 680 for a fair bit less cash!!

I know what you mean about the memory. I've been going up in increments of +25 and benchmarking each time and its taken a while....to be honest I think I might just call it quits at 500 as the incremental gains seem to be pretty slight. If I ever feel I need some extra 'oomph' then at least I'll have done some of the work already.

The memory clocking is very impressive. +750 here and no issues. Im happy enough with mine boosting to 1320mhz on the core. Fps wise, im well chuffed with the results compared to my 470 sli setup.

I have SLI

1187 for the first/primary one
1153 for the second one

Is this normal

Thats normal for multi card, the boost isn't often the same over two cards, if its annoying you can just clock each card separately to match speeds.

Yup that memory takes a beating :D

Yeah I'm under water with my card at the moment.
