Hi Folks I know it's a little late to post this but I had ordered the BFG 9500GT card and it was out of stock, but I have been offered the Gigabyte 9500GT which has the same spec. Is this a decent card or do any of you have any experience with Gigabyte cards in general? Thanks for your time ;)

Thanks for your reply. Yeah I will be gaming but not all the time in a serious way. lol ! I thought the 9500GT chipset was a good choice no?

Nope it's dreadful, especially the DDR2 version. I would not expect it to play anything really...maybe quake 2 or something lol

Yeah I have the ATI Radeon HD2400 at present. I'll see what I think once I get it installed and if im not happy then I'll send it back.

Thanks for your help.

If you're more of an occasional gamer then I would consider something like a 9600gt which has ddr3 memory as an absolute minimum guide. Some even might say one of the 9800's. Not sure what the ATI equivalent would be, 4670 possibly.

Hi arc@css thanks for the reply. I will see how I get on with the 9500GT first as I didn't want to spend too much $$ on a new card given I don't game a lot. Anything has to better than the old HD2400 im running :D

My brother uses a 9500GT 512Mb card (passive) and it runs games like World of Warcraft and Battle for middlearth 2 well on high settings. I doubt you will have a problem with it.

The one my bro has is a Palit DDR2 model. Seems to fit in between a 7900GS and a x1950Pro quite nicely. He does game at 1024 res however. If yours is ddr2 or ddr3 I would imagine you will game just fine at 1280.

i'm not sure how much you paid for that card but if you open it chances are if there no fault you can't return it, And since you can get a 4850 and Dirt 2 (£30 game) for £77.99 i don't see the point since your pretty much only paying £55 for the card then which is in games esp games like wow would miles faster esp in raids.

i had the 9500gt 1gb ddr2

its not bad but i would match it up for a htpc card to be honest, gaming at low res would be just about do-able, 1024x768 ish
