Gigabyte Announces 6-series Motherboard Replacement Program

Cheers guys, finally had the reply I wanted from OCUK today.

Refund accepted. Just waiting for instructions now on where to send it to, who coughs up the cost of me sending it back and how long until I see the money back in my bank.

Faith restored in OCUK thankfuly!

Thanks again,
Chris

Just as a point of interest, I am returning a motherboard for similar reasons to another 'etailer'', and they are sending a courier to collect it at their expense.

I expect OcUK will adopt a similar arrangement, and I would expect others to do likewise.

Will the warranty start with the serial number of the new boards i wonder, as i have read that Gigabytes warranty starts with the serial number rather than the date of purchase. My original board started with 1049, which indicates week 49 of 2010, so at least we will get a few months extra warranty if that is the case

If I'm right, I can keep using this board and when the new ones come out in April I can get this exchanged?

I'm using a gigabyte one as well btw.

Currently I'm having no problems, I wouldn't even bother taking it back if it wasn't for the whole fiasco over it.

Would OCUK be involved in this exchange as well or do I have to go to gigabyte directly?

Intel are picking up the bill for the whole fiasco - it's just a case of working out how the pointed end will operate. Any retailer who qibbles is foolish in the extreme as it is a prima case - in the last resort. The boards will remain perfectly workable till april when the issues should be resolved. If not then thats what we have the SMC ( small claims courts) for. Oh pay by credit card

I don't know if will be made directly by gigabyte or through ocuk (btw what would you prefer?;)), but you may ask gigabyte directly and register your mobo for swap, the details have been mentioned already at:
