Gigabyte DS4 Sata2 question

Hi all,

I have 2x Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 10 NCQ 250GB 6V250F0 SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (HD-088-MD) hdd's, which need fitting to my Gigabyte DS4 mobo.

I shall not be using Raid.

Which mboard controller do I fit them to - ICH8R controller or the Gigabyte controller?

Will it make a difference and if so what?

I'm using the Intel SATA controllers on my DS4 - no reason other than they are Intel

I don't use RAID either (I use my 2x WD Drives independently) although I do set the controllers in AHCI mode rather than standard SATA.
