I see other threads on the Xs3 gigabyte boards, but they don't seem to offer a fix.

I've bought GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit .

Problem is that i boot up and CPUZ says i'm running at PC5300

So I go into the bios, do the CTRL+F1 to get advance mem timing options.
Set the VDIMM to +0.3 (to get it to the badged value on the mem sticks of 2.1v)

I can then set it to 4-4-4-12 as per the label, but it never boots, it doesn't even post just the fans goto full and its game over.

Running BIOS F3 for the S3

Geil's website claims the sticks can take up to 3volts to counter for incorrect sensor readings on the mobos, but i'm not sure.

any steers guys ?

is there an F4 for the S3 ? ( i know it is available on the DS3 and the other variants)

I followed the links to the beta bios page, i've found F3C for the 965p-s3 which also doesn't fix it.

I can change the memory multiplyer so it shows the speed as 800mhz in the bios.

I thought i'd set it to 800mhz, 4-4-4-12 and then add +0.3 to the volts.. no joy.

lots of similar hits on a number of motherboards using google.
