I have the Corsair H50 CPU cooler with 2 apache fans attached to it, im using the, Akasa PWM Fan Splitter Cable so i can have the 2 apache fans running in PWM, but when i try and change the fan speeds in Easy Tune, i cannot seem to do so, is this becuase of the Akasa cable??

PWM function doesn't seem to work on certain UD5's..

I have 2 UD5's here, PWM works perfectly on one of them from F5 BIOS onwards, whereas my 2nd one only ever worked with F8f beta BIOS.. really strange how it works on one board and not the other...

It could also be something to do with ET6, that software sucks!

Speedfan?

But like I said mate, if it is your mobo that is stopping PWM control to work, it won't matter which software you use..

On my UD5 that doesn't allow PWM control, if I set it to the 'Voltage' option that works, I assume that this lowers the voltage provided to the fans??

However, when I had my old Zalman on the mobo, and enabled Voltage control for fans, it would spin up and down constantly, making a really dodgy noise, but the fan on the Zalman was really noisy anyway.

TBH, even without PWM control on my board, the 1500rpm Xigmatek fans, and even my Arctic Cooling 12025PWM fans are inaudible anyway compared to the fan on my GPU and my Raptors.

Yes, PWM should work from F8 upwards, or at least this is how it is on my 2nd UD5.

The only way you will find out is to try it mate.

Just don't use @BIOS to flash via Windows, use Q-Flash instead, just extract the BIOS file from the compressed file, stick it onto a USB pen drive, and then enter Q-Flash in the BIOS or by pressing F8 during the Gigabyte Splash Screen.

Remember once you have finished flashing, to enter the BIOS and load optimized defaults, save and exit, then re-enter and make your changes for your o/c.

This is what they recommend doing in the Gigabyte QFlash guide..

Also, remember to remove your USB pen drive once you are finished, I got an error when I left it in my system, as it tried to boot from the pen drive.. doesn't do this with any of the previous BIOS'es, just F9e..

I am going back to F7 tbh, I don't like F9e, it's nowhere near as good as F7 imo

Ok ill try that, i did notice that i didnt even have PWN selected in the BIOS, so i selected and its still not working correctly, boo. What BIOS are you on BTW?

I don't like F9e, I need more Vcore for my 4GHz o/c to be stable on F9e for some reason.

Regarding the PWM fan control, it works on some boards and not on others, my 1st UD5 it has worked on there since F5 BIOS, whereas my 2nd one only works from F8 onwards.

It doesn't bother me though, as my fans are pretty silent running flat out anyway, so I don't care if it doesn't work on my system.

The voltage option works on both boards though.

PWM used to work when i had F7 the main problem with getting it to work was in the F7 bios the temp sensing was totally screwed up.

Well, for me, it worked fine on one board, where the fan would run quiet as a mouse when there wasn't any load on the processor, and as soon as I put a load on it, the fan would speed up.

But on my other board my fans just ran at full speed constantly, but when I flashed the BIOS to F8 PWM worked fine.
