Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5

My UD5 did something similar a little while back. It turned out the likely solution was to unplug the board, take the battery out, and leave it in this state for a few hours (say, overnight). It hasn't done the same thing since, but I daresay it will do eventually.

Reference, though I forgot to follow up on it. There's a thread on here where leaving the battery out overnight was recommended, but I'm yet to find it.

Have you tried the board out of your case as i have had shorts before now , try running it on the bench

Gavin, I am feeling awkward about this....The board was all good in my PC?

What other cards do you have installed on the board? Could it be a conflict?

Try the board out of the case as suggested.

Matt

I tried the board out of the case as recommended but same result just dead ports as before. :(

The only other components installed on the board at the moment is an EVGA GTX 260 and 3x G.Skill 2GB RAM sticks.

Left the battery out all last night, put it back in this morning but no luck. :(

I'm thinking the only way to solve this is to send it back to Gigabyte although really don't want to do this. :(

Damn. Gigabyte ask you to pay a tenner for the privilege of fixing your board, but waived it when I pointed out that the UD5 is a premium product, and as such, the network ports giving up without reason is unforgivable. It took about three days. On the bright side, they didn't ask for proof of purchase at any point.

That's pretty decent. If it takes only just over a week I'm happy to do that, just hate to be without a working (fast) PC. :)

I've submitted a ticket with Gigabyte now just waiting for a reply on the RMA procedure.

They do ask for proof of purchase though , like the original receipt , i sent them the e-receipt from the account on the website i got my board from as an attachment

Gavin, if it costs you anything I will way you in.

As stated I feel bad about this, as it was all good in my rig.

I can send you an e receipt from OcUK if required.

Rgds Matt

No worries Matt it's one of those things that happens, read a lot regarding this board when the problem arose and a couple of the other Gigabyte boards as well and it tends to be one of the more common faults.

Right, I got in touch with Gigabyte support and they've now said these two things:

Code:
Hi,

Please try to reset the CMOS -
1) Disconnect the power cord from the power supply. Remove the CMOS battery (the flat silver disk) from the motherboard using a srew drive or similar implement. Leave it out for a minute or two, then replace it and power on the system. The BIOS settings should have been reset.
2) Go into the BIOS - “Load optimized default”
3) Save settings and exit.
4) If this doesn’t work then try "Load Failsafe default"

I've already done this, but I did it again anyway, doesn't work as I expected.

Then I get this message after I reply with my results

Code:
HI

No definite answers for you I’m afraid. It's one of those cases that would need to be physically checked.

Please return to your dealer for 2nd opinion or RMA. Sorry for any inconvenience.

So I'm assuming now I have to return it to the company it was purchased from (Overclockers).

It was fun waiting a week for that!

Hi ,if i were you i would contact Gigabyte RMA team in the uk , they will issue you with a rma number and details on what to do, you need proof of purchase and they will turn your board around really quickly

they returned mine within 4 days and 2 days of that was down to city link
