I am looking to upgrade my CPU currently have a 6600k. I was wondering if the z170xp-sli would support a newer CPU of course still with the LGA1151 socket or would I need to upgrade the motherboard also. I am looking to gain more FPS in Call of Duty which I believe is more CPU intense. I have a GTX 1660SUPER and 16gb corsair 2400mhz RAM. Any advice would be appreciated thanks in advance

7700k is the highest cpu to fit your motherboard but check out dome benchmarks before you decide .

You mite have to update the bios also for yhe 7700k to work.

It mite be worth looking into a new 6 core cpu motherboard and memory.

Thanks I was looking at a Ryzen 9 3900x to pair up with a MSI motherboard that supports mystic lighting. I will probably go with that upgrade
