I've just finished building my PC using a Gigabyte GA-Z97X - Gaming GT motherboard.

I have a monitor connected to the built in DisplayPort connector on the MB.

The motherboard display stops at A9, which is apparently 'BIOS Setup is started' according to the manual.

Sadly only a flashing underline character cursor is displayed on the top right of the screen.

I disconnected everything from the MB except power and the cpu fan connections.
I've also tried resetting the CMOS by shorting the connector jumper.

i'll try a VGA monitor tomorrow.
Does anyone have any other suggestions?

The old 17" VGA monitor came up straight away.

The motherboard couldn't drive my 4K monitor from either DP or HDMI although there is a 'Smart Tweaking HD mode'. I was trying to run before i could walk.

All good now and upgraded the BIOS to F7

That's a RAM slot error isn't it? (*strains brain trying to remember*). Try moving your RAM to the second two slots.
