Quick question, is this any good?

Mate looking to get a cheap mobo that will work ok with a 4300 and some DDR2 667 and get some reasonable overclocks (333-350?)

Gigabyte GA_945PL_S3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £44.99
£52.86 inc VAT

Seeing that 945PL isn't rated for 1066FSB, I wouldn't count on getting much of an overclock out of it.

Stretch your budget by just another £30 and you're open to better options.

after a cheapy board but still reasonable. I know it's not got 1066 support but would it be ok as a bargain board?

"Support Intel® next generation Core™2 Duo/Pentium™ D Processor
- Dual Channel DDR2 533 for advanced system performance"

Like I say, no crazy clocks required, 333 would be nice to match the RAM 1:1.

:edit: erk just noticed that it might only be 533 RAM, not 667?

I'd go for the 965P S3 if you're on a tight budget. If possible then DS3P or P5N-E Sli would be great for your system.

not trying to be awkward, I know there are better boards. I'm more than happy with my board, this is for a mate on a very strict budget. Trying to get a half decent board for around the £50 mark rather than the £75 mark if poss.

any other suggestions of boards around the £50 mark that would be ok? SLi not required, mahoosive oc's not required. Just the ability to take 667 RAM an E4300 and able to overclock reasonably easily up to around 333FSB?

thats a better choice, overclockers currently out of stock but available from 50-60 depening on where you buy it from and delivery costs.
