Gigabyte GTX 680 windforce a safe buy?

According to that review the windforce is the worst possible 680 you can buy. But just take a look at the numbers if you guys please can. Do they make any sense to you?

It shows the windforce with an average of 64 frames in BF3.The Zotac version has 91 frames. How is this possible? It doesn't seem to me that an overclock can give a 27 FPS gap. That's the performance difference of an entire new generation of cards.
Rather than the card performaning bad, I said it's most likely the reviewer failed to replicate the scenerios of the bench identically.

I have a 680 windforce. appart from some of the things raised above, PCB colour ect, it is a good card run cool and really quite. I can't hear the fans over my case fans (Akasa Apaches) and the PSU fan. I have not tried to overclock it yet though.

The build quality is not something I worry about now it's installed because it functions perfectly but to say it's one of the best is not believable or something I will lie about to someone asking for user opinions.

In your experience. It's not an across the board thing hence 99% of people being happy, hence the comment.

Just recieved a windforce 670 oc today and put it through its paces with bf3 ghost recon future soldier and crysis 2, I know its not the 680 but so far blown away with how good the card is. quiet, no stutter and all the eye candy possible at 1080p brilliant :-)

That's great to hear =) Congrats on the card! Mine came in about 30 minutes ago going to install it tonight.

Out of curiosity how is the new Ghost Recon? DX11 effects looking nice and good gameplay?

just finished the campaign tonight, everything turned up max for the final level, I actually really enjoyed the game, bought it for pc rather than ps3 and glad I did graphics look fantastic :-). having just said I didn't notice any stutter I just started splinter cell conviction and noticed stutter straight away however put in prefer maximum performance and seems to have eliminated it, I had this set for the other 3 games I tested so maybe that's what's needed whilst nvidia sort the drivers. anyhow all looks glorious especially at 55 inches :-)

Nice that's good to hear will definitely try it out.

So I decided to just install it now and I have a problem =/

I have some incredibly annoying coil whine going on and it's not from the new GPU. I checked with my ear and it's the power supply. Put it right behind the rear of the comp where the PSU opening is and it's definitely from there not from the Windforce.

Never had this before O.o It's a Corsair AX850. Any reason why it would coil whine from installing the 680? I'm sure it's the PSU can't be the GPU...listened really closely from where the power switch is but it only happens during hardware intense things. Such as the graphics portion of windows experience index or when loading up the new Nvidia fairy demo. Doesn't happen during the demo but when it's loading.

Wouldn't listen to Oc3d net reviews to closely, Few of us know tom to well and some things he has backwards the windforce has one of the best coolers bar none.

So it was the PSU. Replaced it with a NZXT 850 watt and no more coil whine.

So far I love the card but...it really is very delicate. Feels like it's going to break right off when you put it in lol. It was also difficult to put on tbh. The brackets had a tough time fitting in.

Glad you fixed the coil whine. I agree the card does feel very delicate, but I'm not sure thats unique to gigabyte? Anyone else with multiple 6xx series experience able to compare?

think this is the one im going to go for
pre-overclocked so i dont have to worry about trying it anytime soon as hopefully its fast enough to last me a long time out the box
im glad a lot of people are saying its a good card
