Hi all,

Thinking about a cheap CPU/Mobo (max budget £100) for an HTPC but also to pair with a GTX 960 for some semi-decent gaming on a 1080p TV.

Gaming will be mostly World of Tanks, World of Warships and Armoured Warfare.

The combo in the totle appears to fit the bill.

However will I be able to get decent overclocks on the Pentium 3258K using the Gigabyte H81M-S2H. I am assuming the mobo will allow increasing the multiplier.

Want to buy new and not second hand btw. Mobo has to be Micro ATX.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

There's a list over at Anandtech forums of boards that can clock the G3258. While the board you are interested in isn't on that list other H81 boards from Gigabyte limit vcore to 1.2v so unless you are lucky and get a stellar cpu you are going to be limited to around 4.3Ghz.

Something else you need to consider is that a H81 board may even need a bios flash before that cpu will even work in it.
