Does anyone know if the Gigabyte P35-DS3L ships with bios to support the E8xxx series chips out of the box?

Im planning to buy:

Core 2 Duo E8200
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L
OCZ 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 Dual Channel Platinum Revision 2 XTC Series
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler

Seems like a good upgrade from a64 4000+ setup for only £240 odd.

it it doesn't fully support it, it should at least post/boot/let you install windows

this is what i've found in the past with all motherboards that don't have full support of the chip (via the bios)

that board deffo will support it though :)

personally i'd get 4gb in 2x2gb sticks of ocz 6400, about £50

fair enough

if you move to vista, just jump straight to x64, there's no point in vista 32

that chip will work ok in the board though :), when you do come to update the bios, put the bios on a usb stick, and flash it using qflash from the BIOS menu..

i got this board a couple of weeks back. it was a rev2.00 and shipped with the f6 bios which has wolfdale support. :)

edit: of course there's no guarantee (at least from ocuk) as to which revision you'll get...

According to gigabyte website Wolfdale support isn't added until the f8a bios, I don't have another 775 chip I can just throw in to flash the bios so this would an important detail. I sent a web note but they just replied saying it was rev2, which I already knew :|

I should add that as long as it boots far enough to flash from usb stick or CD then that would be fine.

and when i sent ocuk a webnote a few weeks back, they told me they could offer no guarantee about which revision board i would get. :/
