Gigabyte P67A-UD7 in the house

Andy - the two white ones are what you use. RAID is one click now.

meansizzler - what you do in easytunes in OS once will be BIOS from then on. But as you wish.

Select ram XMP profile 1
Set Multi to 48 or 46
Leave all voltages auto.

F10 ---> yes
Done deal

Can not speak for all OS based overclocking software, but the Easytunes will save your settings in BIOS. As to stability - one man's stable is another's un-stable. I suggest you simply use the most taxing application you work with or game with for a few hours. I am not a fan of these so-called stability tests. Seen systems pass stress tests and the BSOD first time you play a game.

Real world stable is what matters. And what is real world is different to each person.

Just built the system but for some reason it won't switch on, no fans even spin, only lights that are on are mobo power switch, MD1 which is Green and MD2 which is yellow, which according to manual, memory error, tried putting in different slots, different ram, no ram but still green and yellow light, any ideas?

I assume you are using the UD7 motherboard or this was a rather silly place to ask your question. :)

Could you provide information as to the make and model of the ram.

Here are a list of things to check.

  • Your power supply and all the connectors to the motherboard are firmly connected and in the right places.
  • The connectors on your ram are clean and free from any residue.
  • Try one stick of ram in one slot, repeat with one stick in each of the four slots.
  • Clear CMOS
  • Remove all connectors from PSU, remove harddrive, keyboard, mouse graphic card, everything including the CMOS batery and clear CMOS againl Let stand for 30 mins and try again.
  • Check your graphic card is in the correct slot and corrrectly mounted, with PCi-e connector firmly fitted
  • Change your usb keyboard to a PS/2 keyboard

Try those things for now and I will check back later to see how it is going.;)

We will sort it out.

Have done everything in bold, but still no luck, will chagne psu tonight, could you tell me if your system boots with no ram stick installed, also what colour MD1 and MD2 if on..

RAM IS GSKILL RIPJAW, 2 x 4GB KIT, 2 x 2GB KIT, will change ram tonight... but should boot with no ram right?

Also noticed that the lever/plate that locks CPU in PLATE is very hard to OPEN/CLOSE, need to use a lot of force to close, think screw that holds the plate may be too tight, did you get this problem?...

Hi have you had a look underneath the CPU, make sure all the pins are ok,
I would have thought it would beep at you if you had no ram fitted, do you have a speaker conected to the board?

It is quite normal for the locking mechanism to be tight - or require force to close. It often surprises people the first time they do it. If you have put the CPU in the wrong way you can not close the locking mechanism and if you did force it your pins will be toast. :D And you will have noticed I am sure.

As to booting with no ram. Your system will power up and the fans will spin then close again. The two lights green and yellow will show.

Currently it sounds like your 12v power connector is not providing power. I have tested what my motherboard does if I remove it and the behaviours match with what you are reporting. Might want to check the actual metal pins inside have wires connected to them. Have had a 12v connector work loose a few wires in the past.

If your free at 8pm will try it out then, I have built many systems, none of them require the force this board required for locking plate, you can hear a noise which sounds as if socket it being lifted up from board, scary, will take out cpu and put in again..

Also what happens if you boot with no gpu and no ram, and no gpu but ram..

as I want to make it as easy as possible I have 3 branded PSU's, the one I used was Seasonic X Series 750W, same as the rebranded corsair.., funny enough built 3 amd systems last week, all different mobo's and none of them booted... maybe it is just bad luck as every system I built in the last 10 years worked..

Tried Zalman and Seasonic PSU, will try another Seasonic, and reset CPU but I highly doubt it is not in properly as I lined up two notches, also what happens when you boot with no CPU?, does system switch on?

I have not connected any cables from case, using power switch directly on motherboard..

Tonight will connect following to board only

atx power/cpu power
cpu/1 ram stick/gpu

have spare memory, psu, gpu, so will change around and test again

Look it might just be you have a faulty board. Stuff happens like that from time to time. I build plenty systems for mates and sometimes you just get a part that will not work.

Check your PSU connections very closely that does sound to me where the issue is.

And yeah I will check in later tonight during Bolton v Chelsea half time break.:)

OK it switches on!

but am running following..

mobo out of case, using in box it came in

using different psu seasonic s12
using different ram, 1gb hynix
no gpu

ideally want to run x750 psu, 4 x ddr 3 stick gskill, gtx 570

next will try gskill sticks in pairs of 2

Back abit what do you mean no GPU?

If you have no GPU then your board is a H67 chipset.

Please confirm.

Well all booted up raid array a piece of cake , only problem seems to be the graphics driver doesnt let me go to 1920 x 1200 , seen this around the forums a lot, having to run at 1600 x something anyway it looks a bad pic. pc feels fast though, no overclock yet but as soon as i get the gfx thing sorted , any ideas ?
