Did these cards have the black screen problem . Thinking and picking one up
in stead of a 770 msi i sent back, At the price i have seen seems a no brainier.
But a little worried about issues , I know i can get a better model than the
gigabyte model but not at the 250£ price range of the 770.:D

P.s . don't want a 280x would learn to the 770 in that range if honest.It just
the price that's temped me to the red side:D

Thanks for the reply , helps to hear from someone who has one.

Quiet ? cause the MSI 770 was. Can deal with the extra heat just not the noise.

I have had from most of the reference amd cards i have owned.

Well I am running a R9 290 Tri-x with a reference card and for me they are quite and cool.I may be nuts but its fine for me.

Gigabyte 290 at 100% fan speed is more quite than the R9 290 Sapphire Tri-x that all I can tell you there.

Running crossfire auto fan is quite also.

Edit:Sold my gigabyte cards, the combo I mentioned is good enough for me.

I have this gigabyte r9 290 (first batch released back in december). I only have one issue and that is if I max load in the first 2 minutes of starting my pc up in the morning it black screens.

whereas if I play a 30 second video then do it or wait a couple minutes - it's fine and I have no problems maxing it out.

5460 x 1080 ultra settings bf4 4 x msaa - 50-60 frames per second
5460 x 1080 medium settings bf4 - 70-80 frames per second

any more questions?

I also have a Gigabyte R9 290 and it has been great so far. At least until I tried to install the 14.4 catalysts and my second monitor refuses to be detected.

Trying to decide if it's worth RMA'ing or just waiting for the next driver to see if that sorts it.

But otherwise it's a great card, cool and quiet with no black screens.
