Hey Guys,

Ive got a Gigabyte UD5 with i7 920, since I moved back from Uni a few days ago I have been having major problems with my rig.
At COMPLETELY random times, be it 1 second after pressing ON, or an hour in the Windows environment, the PC just suddenly turns off. Very quickly after turning off it turns back on, and may fail 7+ times before a successful boot. Basically..its incredibly unstable..no overclock, tried fail-safe BIOS and optimised...gone from F9e to F7. Only had the board a few months!!!
Ive literally got the bare bones running at the mo, ive shorted the green+black on PSU 24pin to run PSU independantly, that ran perfectly, plus the PSU is a corsair hxuk 850w, about 3 weeks old!! The strange thing seems to be the PCI/PCIE slots, where ive tried different GPU's etc, and fails, but without GPU, boots the BIOS HEX sequence on the 7segments, to FF perfectly, and just runs..im thinking hardware error, after like 30 seconds of PRIME95 it reboots..so something is definitely not stable..going to try memtest, but doubt that as only running 1 of 3 sticks, tried all sticks..but suppose could be the slots?? Not much chance of them all failing though!!

Any ideas?

How many graphics cards are you using and which ones?

Edit,I see it'ss an ATI, try an Nvidia graphics card instead.

After hours of painful painful testing...it appears the brand new (UNDER A MONTH OLD) Corsair hx850uk modular PSU, has killed itself. No bangs or pops, but it has totally failed. Shorting out the green and black cables, get one second of spin then just dies. It went from powering for random amounts of time to totally failing, probably just some poor soldering, after a month a capacitor etc cant have failed!! Anyways, heres a question...ive contacted Corsair and have an RMA agreed, I have to send the PSU to the Netherlands and it will be back within like week+. I thought going to Corsair would suffice and be faster, but does anyone know whether going to OCUK would help?
