Gigabyte z77x-d3h,
System is stable for 3months, gone from 8gb to 16gb ram.
Start getting BSOD.
Even dropping back down to 8gb at this point did not stop the BSOD, the system refused to go back to its stable state, with many things tested.
Tested all ram, tested all slots.
Tested with all / most hardware unplugged, and a fresh harddrive with a fresh install of windows. After many BSOD, noticed it seems to error on a fresh install when iGPU is installed.
Setting ram volts at 1.55v then 1.6v, at the time I noticed the bios shows 1.5v as actually been 1.48v. Reducing the ram timings still got BSOD, until dropping the ram to 1333.
System appears stable at 1.6v, 4 sticks running at 1333. Timings still reduced(not sure if this part helped)
No blue screens for the next week, computer does bring up the bios once suggesting that improper bios settings have been used, and asks to reset to default. Ignoring this and booting anyway the system continues to work.
Question One, I've read about VTT voltage, but it is greyed out on this motherboard, I see the option but on f8 and f9 bios I cannot modify the VTT Voltages. (suggestion was upping this may allow 1600 speeds) - Any ideas
This was working fine before the second 8gb was introduced, now it only will work on the above settings, not effected by 8gb or 16gb.
Question Two, Any suggestions what you want to blame most, even though it appears stable now i'm really not trusting this system at the moment. Even with one stick of ram, a new harddrive its still wont let me boot up a fresh copy of windows and allow updates unless i lower the ram speed and raise the volts.
I'm thinking PSU or Motherboard at the moment.
Edit -- I did have another thread but gave up on it while doing more testing.
