Gillette Fusion Vs Wilkinson Sword Quattro

As Gillette blades are ridiculously overpriced the Wilkinson sword wins hands down. Not to mention i find the blades are sharper to begin with and last longer.
The only down side is if you've not shaved for a while they get clogged up easily and the protectors are nothing more than a gimmick.

I have the Fusion Proglide Power - the one that vibrates. It doesn't really shave any better than a disposable to be honest, and it sounds like I'm in the bathroom with a sex toy :(

I only got it because it was going mega-cheap in a gift set with some shaving cream and lotions. Don't get me wrong, it works fine - I just wouldn't pay full price for one!

They're not out in the UK yet and I can't reveal the exact launch date of it, but it's a fantastic product and has three new features never seen on a wet razor before.

What could you possibly put on a wet razor that would make it any better? We have gone from the pointless [5 blades] to the frankly ridiculous [vibrate].

What are Wilkinson Sword planning, a razor that changes colour when it's getting blunt [the first shave], plays relaxing music and gives you the cricket scores?

Merkur club here, but I have a "Schick" (Renamed Wilko) 4blade for doing the tricky bits on my neck that I always end up cutting myself to bits with when I use the DE.

I've used it by itself a few times when travelling and it definitely does a better job than the Fusion I used to have.

Wait until you go through puberty and need to use a real razor. :D

Oi, I'll have you know I am through puberty, I currently have a fair amount of facial hair need to shave soon  I don't really notice the difference between them and gillette/wilkinson. If anything I feel I got more precision with the single blade BIC, I can't recall being cut or feeling irritation at all tbh, whereas I can with the gillette and wilkinson. Meh what can I say maybe I'm just ACE at shaving but for the time being I can't be asked to swap it's much cheaper :p

I got that power version of Fusion and its use left me puzzled, I mean all it does is vibrate and just seems to make shaving worse.

The Gillette fusion is better for teens, ripped my face to shreds... the quattro is great for normal use.
The Jap/German/Brit specials are defiantly worth it if you've got the time.

Well, just wait and see :)

Merkur + Feathers.

Does anyone remember the guy who insisted that his 8 pence disposable BICs and no cream (!) gave just as good a shave as a DE razor? It was in one of the 'spec me' threads. I wonder how his face is getting on ...

Instead of adding new, unnecessary and unasked for 'features', why don't companies such as yours reduce the price the customer has to endure? I know you're in it for profit but the markup on your components must be absolutely obscene.

Most punters would prefer a good quality razor at a reasonable price over an expensive razor with ridiculous and pointless 'features'.

I'm rolling single blade disposable BIC's atm, yes that's right BICs the people that make the biro's. It gets me shaved and I don't get cut what more do you want from a razor :p

^^^

this

Gillette mach 3 is fine for me if I want to shave every day but if I have a day or two of stubble its useless. I'll take a decent single bic blade over 3 or 4 flimsy blades any day.

They're not unasked for, I can't remember the exact figure but majority of consumers who are surveyed still believe they could do with less irritation when shaving.

I wish the mark up was obscene, working in sales would be much easier if that were the case.

Also, suppliers do not and can not dictate retail prices - that's down to the sole discretion of the retailer. The only thing you can do is provide recommended RSPs and set maximum retail price as that's fair to the consumer. So the price you pay for anything you buy, is down to the decision of the retailer.

What you say about consumers only wanting basic, good quality products at a reasonable price isn't true. Yes, they want good value for money and a good quality shave but year on year the trend is people trade up to more premium products.

This is reflected in market data, every year the premium sectors of the market grow at the expense of the entry level products.

You can say the same for everything, look at TV's for example. It's a constant evolution, we've had HDTV for years but now we have LED, 3D, InternetTV etc.
