My wife lost her mojo for baking recently. Think it's this year and work being busy etc. but wanted to do something special for Christmas that she could get stuck into. So, of course she undertook the small task of creating a 1:20 scale replica of my families chalet.
Took about 60hrs in total I'd say, with construction and baking times. 20kg of Gingerbread and so much royal icing.

It's huge. A monster. Now we don't really know where to put it :D

I guess royal is the only real option for reliably glueing them; it's sweetness is always a bit cloying versus fondant, brandy-snap logs ?

... begs a question on family traditions for xmas cakes - we usually do some battenbergs in addition to the xmas cake - marzipan - yum.
Sandy Toxteh/r4 was describing a swedish marzipan delicacy, I've just failed to google identify
