Girlfriend is considering a 206 CC, opinions?

I have a friend who had one for a few years, it was in the garage a lot and he still says it's one of the worst purchases ever.

Shocking little cars, put together like something I've repaired whilst drunk and drive horribly. You sit massively offset to the pedals.

The streetka isn't the worst thing in the world if she likes them, though I'm not sure how they fair with the rust issued the rest of the range has. Mx5 as already mentioned, mr2 if you can find a facelift for the money.

You could also cut the budget right down and get an older megane convertible for 1k or less. Avoid the 2 litre ide engine and they probably fit the bill. French though so you'd need to find a decent one. Dirt cheap though and cheap parts though put together in a very "french" way.

Def avoid the 4wd, all you'd gain is the bigger turbo. Then it will be purely golf running costs.

Golf turbo running costs. With big wheels.

Plus the FWD ones are ultra rare and only came right at the end of the TT's life and are therefore unlikely to be stretchable from £3k.

Sounds good, even better if its not doing huge miles. Ours is a real trooper. Two rear callipers and a cam belt last November, done 10k since then with no attention. Can't remember working on it before the cam belt to be honest and its on 190k now.

Nath. I convinced Mrs rjk she needs an MX5 because it has a 'happy face'
Now she wants an MX5 and it will mean I have a reason to drive her car a bit.

Once she gets rid of that godforsaken Clio...

I changed my mind. Hear me out.

Ford Sport KA

In orange.

Convertable.

Will look just like a 350z convertable.

People don't tend to scrap £3000+ cars for 3 figure bills so I've got no idea what relevence you think the fact there are 5 of them parked near you has?

I have lots of single young girls round here, shame I am near enough 40 :(

I only hear bad stories about the 206cc and have seen lots of RAC vans. No idea what repair costs are for them when things go **** up. Nowadays 3 figures can easily reach 4 with an oldish car with a service and mot.

What a silly idea.

Boyfriend? You do have long hair...:p

No I'm not offering.

An ex's mum had one and to be honest, whilst it was a convertible with a tin top (generally a good idea) it was just...poor really. She had the 2.0 and my gf made me sit in the back...I'm short, she was shorter and I struggled with leg space. :( They are also quite heavy iirc and poor on fuel and not that efficient in power etc. either.

Make her get an Mx-5 in my opinion...but women are impossible to reason with. :p

Edit: Oh and the roof mechanism is SOOO slow!
