Give me advice!

So I just got a text message saying "I'm in Cambridge for the night, fancy meeting up for some fun/frolicks?"...

...and I have no idea who it's from. Advice on a suitable course of action? I have been known to delete the phone numbers of people I don't like from my phone memory, so there's a chance that it's one of them. Equally though, it could be a friend I haven't spoken to in ages, and they've just got a new number.

Dilemma!

Uuh, I know this might seem absolutely ludicrous, but perhaps you should send a text back asking who it is?

Send one back saying yes, arrange a meeting place, and then never turn up.

That's shockingly rude, though - especially if it's someone whose number I deleted because I don't like them.

On the other hand though, if that's the case then I don't like them, so who cares if I offend them? Interesting.

Call them? If it's someone you recognise, tell them you want to go or can't, depending if you want to or not? If you can't recognise the person, just say you're busy, and ask when you'll next see them, if it's work or something it might give you an idea of where you know them from.

If its someone you know, surely there ren't that many people who could send a message like that to you, ie this situation (screwing around) has come up before?

I called them, it turned out to be a good friend with a new number, now I'm off to meet her for a drink, but the fun and frolicks will be limited to that what with me having a girlfriend and all.
