Hi all, iam getting to that stage in photography where friends and family are after getting copies of some of my work. It's mostly close friends and parents, my question is what is the best way to leave my mark on the photos? I've just started using a basic metadata preset in LR. Just with my name and email.

Iam sure many of you have experienced this before, so just after advice really :)

Do you mean watermarks?

Well possiably, although I think I will give that a miss for the time being.

For friends and family I just leave a copyright notice in the metadata but as mentioned above you could watermark them if you wanted.

In the metadata ive got

IPTC Copywrite

Copywrite Copywrite © 2012 James White
Copywrite Status- Copywrited
Rights Usage Terms - No reproduction without prior written consent

IPTC Creator
Name James White
Creator email [email protected]

That seem ok?

I print them out, put them in a fare and give them a nice present.

If I give them a jpeg then my details are the EXIF.

Yeah well said presenting them with a framed print is a great idea. Thanks.

In slight view of this thread I Went Go-Karting recently, and the company that run it are intrested in the photos that I took. Ive uploaded them to a set in flickr, and was planing on emailing them the photo album link.

The only problem I can foresee is that the company may just download them straight off flickr, can I get round this? Iam sure they wouldnt but you can't be too careful nowadays.

Is there an alternative method?

If they can view it online they can copy it... You can watermark but that's not much of a deterrent either although at least you get some advertising :)

Yeah agree, do you always watermark your photos?

Just made this in LR, what do you think? For advertising purposes what else would I need included? Iam by no means saying iam good enough, but would just like to protect my photos where I can.

Ok thanks. Another quick point, not sure if you will know the answer or not. But will I have to save the original then an additional file with my watermark on in LR? Not sure if its possible to some add the watermark on a seperate temp export, just trying to save HDD space really and time.
