Hi,

I went indoor karting today with my sisters bf my brother and a couple of his mates and had a great time. Id never been before and when i walked in and watched the people who were on before us i thought i was going to die. After a couple of laps i got loads of confidence and didn't even touch the brake pedal, just let off the gas a bit then powered out of the corner. Then after another few laps i learned the best lines to take and started to get some decent times.

I didn't crash so that i needed rescuing once either. I had a slight collision when someone in front slide round the corner so i had to slow right down then someone slid into me. My brother tried to overtake me on the inside of a hairpin and got buried into the tires lol.

The only bad thing is that there was no cushion on the seat and i didn't know you could ask for one. Ive got 3 massive red lumps on my spine now and my backs killing.

My first few laps were arounf 28 seconds then they steadilly got better and better and my best lap was 22 seconds dead. We managed to get around 57 laps of the track in out half hour time.

The drive back in my sisters bf's Civic type R seemed slow :D .

Glad you enjoyed yourself, I love karting too, been going regularly since I was 12 as I've always loved cars and wanted to drive, and back then it was my only chance to! I haven't not got fastest lap time of the day for a long time :D

If your brother was overtaking on the inside that's a legitimate maneuvour though and you shouldn't have cut him off

Hi there

Karting is great fun, but I've only ever done outdoor tracks.
You guys that have done both indoor and outdoor which is the best?

i think it depends on the track more than the cars being used, i have had great fun doing both :D

Would you need the visor down for outside karting?, so you dont get bugs in your eyes etc. I dont think id like to have the visor down as i tried it and couldnt see much.

Well i took the corner close to the inside then he just slammed into the side of me on the inside when there was no room to overtake. There was no way i could have let him pass me, i think he just didn't slow down tbh. Hes only been about 4 times.

I let people who were faster than me pass me so i wouldn't be holding them up but not that many people passed me. I came 5th out of 10 people in the fastest lap time and i was the only one who hadn't been before.

I just wish my back wasn't hurting so much, I didn't realize while i was racing due to adrenalin or something.

anyone know of a decent one round Huddersfield / Leeds ? Looking to go one weekend with housemates, got some money and free time now, nothing to do but waste it :D

Gokarts are so much fun. I'v been to indoor and outdoor once. I prefer the outdoor ones as they are a bit faster and have a longer straight....the weather changes mean you can get some crazy drifting and crashes going on. The indoor was good because you have rails at the side and can recover if you go into a corner too fast, they also had a flyover bit that i could push my mate up(hes 17 stone so slower) and push him down the down ramp and into a barrier. :D

I've done it outdoor and indoor. Outdoor was more fun.

This was because it is in tenerife. Sunset, apparent lack of safety controls. Using the "adult" karts when I was 16 made me fastest on the track due to my weight.

It was a pretty massive track which adds to the fun.

Last time I did this was in Dubai - I was 11 years old but out there their go karts are "one size fits all" so I was using an Adult kart! they had 2 engines! was nuts!

Me, my dad and my brother all raced - the first time Dad got the fastest lap, but the 2nd time we went I was well used to it and was proper sliding round corners and not taking my foot off the throttle once and got the fastest lap which was about 5 seconds faster than Dad's and he's been loads of times before!

I've done both and preferred outdoor, but thats mainly due to it being a larger track anyway.

www.cornwallkarting.com - great track.. especially the bridge/tunnel :)

Go-Karting some of the best fun you can have, but bloody expensive, was heaven when my mate used to work at local track.

Outdoor is better than indoor, as long as its a nice open track as you get to use the bigger carts to a better extent and get a nice top end out of them, more like real racing than the tighter indoor circuits where it can be an absolute pain to pass.

I didnt think it was too expensive tbh, then again it was a special offer. 2 for the price of one which worked out at £10 each but as we could only get 5 people to go we paid £12 each for half an hour. Its the best £12 ive spent in a long while.

http://www.prestigeindoorkarting.co.uk/ this is the place we went.

Done it a few years back and loved it. My dad drove home saying "by 'ek this car feels slow" then we looked down and seen 110mph :o

Ha ha yeah it was the same for us. My sisters bf has a CTR and it seemed slow on the journey home, and he doesn't hang about either.

outdoor as there is much more scope for overtaking.
it's typical on an indoor track for the finishing order to be almost identical to the starting order.
i love Karting, what i don't love is what i've lovingly come to know as "new tyres time...90 pounds please"

Going to Raceland, just outside Edinburgh this sunday hopefully. If we can get booked in always competitions up there. 70mph karts outside, should be great :D
