Going down to one box...

at the mo i'm using an arcam irDAC (USB connected to a media PC, optical to TV etc etc) connected to an audiolab 8000C/8000P to drive my Linn Ninkas

i'd like to be able to replicate all the functionality i have, with enough guts to drive the Ninkas which are big beasts, in a single box. Audiolab 6000A is close but it's not really powerful enough and lacks USB

budget i'm open minded on - the kit i have is worth a decent amount, so i'll be able to recover that - but i'd prefer to keep it in 3 digits. Used is preferred - i like someone else to pay my depreciation!

A £1000 avr will have similar power in two channel mode, in fact I think my Yamaha 672 with two speakers connected is 70w-100w.

Although your stereo rig will have superior sq.

i'd definitely prefer to stick with dedicated 2-channel kit, for the aforementioned SQ reasons

That Cambridge Audio looks pretty decent.

I had similar criteria to you when i was looking last year and settled on the Yamaha A-S801. Would've liked the AS1100 but the addition of USB/Digital features appealed to keep it all in one box.

Recently picked up an Arcam SA20 for pretty much the same reasons. Pretty good DAC in it and is a lovely sounding amp.
