Standard cars should look standard, powder coated wheels go well if other parts of the car match.
Powder coated wheels can look completely standard, a lot of wheel refurbishing places powder coat then lacquer wheels. Here is an example:

Keep em standard. I have the same wheels and whilst they're nothing special they're not offensive and suit the car well enough.
It's a bit weird that I currently dislike my car and avoid driving it yet I see a picture of another mk4 and think ooh I'd like the look of that (yet I already own one!). Is this just me or are other mk4 golf owners feeling the same way?
I'd scrap the wheels altogether and get some nicer ones.
