As title, going to spend 3 weeks in California soon - is there anything I should definitely put on my shopping list?

Stuff that is much cheaper there, things that I can't get here? I'm not really up with the latest toys/gadgets etc.

Tempted by a DS Lite though. :D

Jeans and trainers/shoes/clothes in general really - ridiculously cheap!

Best have a look at stuff youd like here and price it up - some things are much much cheaper, while others aren't that different. Oh it sounds daft but medicine - you can buy a tub of paracetamol (advil or the like) for around 6 dollars for 120 - you can only buy about 12 in the UK for that!

Whereabouts are you going?

We're staying with friends we met on our honeymoon, they are from Huntingdon Beach. They're taking us to San Diego, Mexico, Palm Springs and Las Vegas! Like a mini tour. :D

Im also going to america very soon and will be taking quite a lot of spending money, and apparently New Jersey, which is where i'll be for the first week, has no sales tax so things will be even cheaper!

I was tempted by a PSP or DS lite, are there any region issues with playing euro games on US versions of these?

Nice, I've not been to Mexico, but the rest are all fantastic. You'll have a brilliant time! :D

Make sure you visit See's candy store, its like California's Thorntons and your wife will love you for it ;).

I asked the same question in the DS Lite thread in the Console forum - apparently the games are completely region free, although the general advice seems to be buy the unit in the UK (so you can take it back) and the games in the US. The games seem stupidly cheap over there (like £10-£20 for even the newest ones).

electronics are the way to go, take the new macbook if you buy a standard black one from the UK it'll cost you 1029 whereas if you buy it over there it costs $1500 which comes to 814 :D

Clothes and Trainers are your best bet m8. A pair of Levi's are around £10 in the states. My Adidas_1 trainers are about £60 cheaper, and the stuff you buy over in the states won't be around in the UK for at least 4- 5 months as well ;)

Mountain Dew, Root Beer and Kool Aid. They taste better from USA :D

Also Cap'n Crunch breakfast cereal, anything cinnamon flavour, painkillers from the chemist (you can get some real strong ones over the counter) and Clear Eyes sooooooothing eye drops.

Make sure you eat at the following fast food places: Wendy's, Arbies, Taco Bell and Cinnabon.

Mmmmmm, can you tell I'm hungry?

get some remembrant whitening toothpaste aswell. $5 a tube over there and mum mum swears by it. Personally i tried it and it felt like my gums were rotting because it was so strong.

beef jerky
meatloaf

eat at JBs

Don't forget to practice your poker face for the green channel on the way home. Last time I was away I had a brand new Samsonite choc-a-bloc with gear that still had the labels on, as well as my other luggage. Thankfully my unflappable demeanour saw me though.
