Would this be a good combo for some overclocking and gaming?

What sort of speed do you think I'd get out of the chip with this rig?

And a sonic tower cooler?

thats a very similar spec i'm getting towards the end of July, mainly because those parts seem to be very well rated on these forums.

Also that mobo has the P35 chipset that will take the new chips when they arrive. So no need to change your mobo if you want to upgrade to a newer chip.

Highly recommended

If you can wait till the end of July there will be price cuts on the intel chips.

Yeah I may start selling off my AMD bits towards the end of June in prep for the price drops

I get all excited and wann buy now though when I decide to upgrade

But as I want the most for my cash I WILL hold off.....

The other bonus with that board is that it takes DDR3 which is more future proofing I suppose!

One thing though does the board mind having 4gb RAM?

May go for 4 sticks perhaps? Depending on my bank balance at the time

I can't see this board not liking 4 Gb tbh. And remember that you need a 64bit OS for 4Gb to be recognised

Just been looking on the Gigabyte site and it says the board will support 8Gb DDR2 and 4Gb DDR3 (board only has two DDR3 slots)

I'm going to put Vista Ultimate 64bit on once I have built the new rig.... or maybe towrds the end of the year when I see some good DX10 titles out that I wanna play

Just been going over that thread and I think 3.2 - 3.4 isn't that hard with good cooling

Now I must stop reading before I start purchasing stuff .....lol

Is the Artic Pro 7 a good cooler for its price?

I have a Thermaltake Sonic Tower with a 120mm fan on it but someone said it wouldn't be good enough for the next gen chips?
