Visiting a mate in LA and we are going on a road trip to vegus tommorw. Can anyone suggest a good cheapish place to stay for a couple of nights?

Also whats the situation with playing holdem, wheres good to go for cash games or tournements? what do the blinds/buy-ins start at. Any other tips what to look out for ect would be great also.

I know you lot are experts.

Thanks, eddie

I predict you will lose.

you may as well stop on the strip. go find a net café and just look for the last minute deals

woohoo vegas rocks!

on strip get to the barbary coast (renamed to Bills Gambling Saloon) or off strip get to the Golden Nugget down town.

I have some offers for the golden nugget, email me (in trust) and i'll forward on for you. They have some awesome pool parties going on right now. The GN is such an awesome hotel resort. If you have your own car, then go there definately.

Looking at $69ish a night. Really not bad. Book directly from the hotel website.

Poker wise, downtown has the local and old school players, i.e. folks you don;t want to play against. The strip has more chinese/yuppy business men who see the WPT on tv and come and lose big bucks... but expect to pay big bucks to play.

My search before I went showed that the best holdem place was at the Statosphere. No sharks, good play and average-to-good players. I didnt get a chance to play though :(

I think Rotty is needed here.

If you want to play tournaments i would suggest the Bellagio, and if u want free money play late at night in the MGM cash games.

I like to stay at either the MGM Grand because of its location, or the Bellagio/Venetian for comfort and style.

As themistry said if you're after value for money and perfect positioning on the strip you won't do much better than the Barbary Coast (now crappily renamed Bill's :() excellent value for money.

Keep away from the top end of the strip if you can help it anything much past the Mirage & Venetian is a bit skanky.

UPDATE

Hotel- Stayed in some cheap dive as had been up all friday night and was knacked.

Poker- Played a $50 buy-in with 60 people and came 3rd $508 thanks very much. The played a cash game, sat down with $100 got poor hands and still built it upto $200 the was all in with AA got busted by KK, and not even a sorry from the bloke. Win some lose one. We took a road trip to Vegas. Was a long drive!!!! Just dont break down in death vally

We stayed in the Luxor and it was quite nice....but the best part is the all you can eat buffets in the casinos!!! $25 will get you in and eat as much as you can. Some give you free Champagne with your breakfast :p

Just make sure you vist all the major casinos as some are simply amazing and very stylish!!!

most places have good tourneys and sit and go games

Itend to play the tourneys in Harrahs , s+g in Paris, Alladin and TI , also play cash in O'sheas 1/5 spread limit game , very easy going and most players drunk :D
