GoldenEye

Goldeneye is by far and away the finest Bond film ever produced, add to that the fact it has Isabella Scorupco in it then you also have the finest Bond Lady too.

Only thing its missing is a third nipple, a flying car and an asian looking midget.

I agree with that too. Dalton is one of my favourite Bonds after Connery/Brosnan who I rate about the same (I'm fairly young remember). It's a shame he only had two films, they were both brilliantly gritty and much more realistic than an ageing Roger Moore wheezing his way up the Eiffel Tower with his cheesy quips. Still, with the Bond series you can always find something you want, whoever you are I think.

Personally I think Dalton was the best Bond before Craig. i grew up in the Brosnan times but the extra grit of the Dalton films was what made the difference. Goldeneye and TND were both excellent and TWINE was good at the time, bit too cheesy now though (the step between the reasonably gritty TND and terrible DAD). Moore was ok, same with Connery. I actually also really like OHMSS, a much better film than people give it credit for, especially the end.

I also liked Craig as Bond to begin, but Qunatum of Solace was just awful. It had all the Bond components, but it was like they were put together by a 5 year old. The whole film makes no sense, the storyline is never fully explained or resolved, there are very apparent gaps or omissions in the movie that flow terribly. I have no idea what they were thinking. Casino Royale was really good I thought, probably because they kept it fairly simple, original and yet still contemporary. There was also some time for character development.

I never get it when people say this. The storyline was a logical step from Casino Royal (it was essentially the second half) and it was a pretty straightforward story, without any major omissions or storyline issues. you're welcome to tell me where you think they were though.

Quantum of Solace was awful I agree with that.

Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies were good Brosnan films, started to get a bit much after that (mostly Die Another Day)

The next time I put myself through it I'll let you know. Those were certainly my thoughts from the last time I watched it. It was a good experience in the cinema, plenty of action (I liked the freerunning bit) but it just didn't get it. It's missing a lot and I'll clarify happily the next time I watch it through.

Anyone know what's going on with the next movie?

Agree, if I see Die another day on I'm not too bothered, but Tommorow never dies and Goldeneye definitely is a must watch if I catch when it's on.

Goldeneye is the only bond film I own.

Love Goldeneye, one of the best Bond films for me, Loads of epic scenes, especially the first 10mins or so. But this scene in particular makes me crack up whenever I see it.

"WELL IT DEPENDS..."

Worst henchman ever :D

Never really got on with the other Brosnan films but Goldeneye was great.

Also quite liked the Dalton movies, but tbh I'll happily sit and watch most Bond films :)

Definitely my favourite Bond film. I think Brosnan is by far the best Bond but that's probably because I grew up with him as Bond.

People always seem to overlook tomorrow Never dies as well but I think that it's also up there with the best of the Bond films.

Goldeneye was a brilliant Bond film. Definitely set Brosnan up as a decent Bond. Apparently Goldeneye was written with Dalton in mind, before the rights problems meant there was a long gap between Dalton's 2nd film and the next one so Dalton quit. 7 years or so later along comes Brosnan as Bond who inherits a dark Bond film/script. I thought TND and TWINE were very good Bond films but Die Another Day was just ridiculous, Halle Berry apart. :p

Casino Royale was a fantastic debut for Craig and was a perfect "reboot" of the series like Star Trek was for, erm, Star Trek. :p Quantum of Solace was just pretty pathetically awful in comparison. I've no idea how it was so totally rubbish. It doesn't surprise me that they've not yet started on a new Bond. They probably need to think about QoS and why it was so rubbish before they can even be given any crayons and sugar paper to start planning what would be Bond 23.

And Goldeneye 64 has to be one of the all time best console games ever? :p

Another interesting fact of that sort. Did you know that Pierce actually got offered the part of James Bond in 1986, and he said yes to it? In the end, I believe there was some issue with him being bound to Remington Steele so Timothy Dalton took the role on. Then, Pierce was re-offered the role, I assume because of the reasons you stated above. The rest, as we say, is history. :p
