Goldring Headphones. You're Opinions?

Just an after thought, has anyone else noticed the hiss when the ANR is turned on being slightly louder in the left ear (the one with the switch on it) than in the right ear?

My first pair they were perfectly even as far as I could tell, however when it came to my second pair there was a massive difference between the 2 cans. A few others have noted that issue too, but in all cases it seemed really apparent rather than only slight.

I really don't want to send them back again, I only just got this pair. Have been using them for a few hours now and I think there is a definite discrepancy between the two ears, even when I swap them around on my head (so it's not my ears). Does this mean the ANR is working more (better?) in one ear than the other? I wish there was a way to test it.

Very interested to hear opinions of the E9 with NS1000s. As I've mentioned the NS1000s do very badly with some amps that are fine for other headphones.

I think low output impedance and a good balance of current vs voltage performance is important with the NS1000s. Power output may be of some importance but some of the best performers I've heard with NS1000s have been battery powered portables to date.

You got one yet? If so how does it perform? My finger to buy is twitching! lol

I actually cancelled my order!

For a few reasons:

1) They were out of stock and they didn't know when they would get another batch in (although they seem to have it now).

2) I like the idea of having an external DAC in the future that I can connect to my PC via optical, with a pre-encoded Dolby Headphone signal going into it, then an amp and then headphones. The E9 fit's the amp role well enough, but the E7 as a DAC doesn't support optical-in (and that's what the E9 is designed to work with). As a result there are other products out there that will do both aspects in-one.

For example the iBasso D10 / D12 (http://www.ibasso.com/en/products/show.asp?ID=63)

Well wait until March. Fiio have the E11 and E17 out and they look sweet. Much more powerful amplifier and DAC.

Yea but how much is the iBasso D12 ? you can get an Fiio E9 + Fiio E7 + Fiio L2 Combo for £118.73.
and even then maybe the e7+e9 sounds better ?

But it doesn't do what I want it to!? It's like saying that I want a 4-door hatchback and saying "Oh, I've heard the MX-5 is good though!" The E7 doesn't have optical input.

The FiiO E7 + E9 don't do what I want them to and the E7 has no real place as a gaming DAC.

Granted the iBasso D12 is a fair bit more, about £190~ I think, although it's the upgraded version of the D10, which can be had cheaper.
