Golf 1.9 TDI

hi guys going to be getting one of these as my second car in a month or so time just wondering what engine mods there are, so far i have planned an ecu remap new diverter valve and an intercooler which should boost the power a little. anyone else done any to this car i know most of you have the GTIs etc. (im not chaving it up just want more power as its a low insurnance group) car will be MK4

Duh, thats obvious, he wants to save a tenner a week on fuel so he's going to spend thousands more on a diesel Golf to acheive it

If I were messing with the intercooler I'd add bigger injectors and turbo to the list.

no its the 100bhp one and im getting a diesel as its free to me, simple remap takes it from 100 to 145bhp

cant see turbo or clutch or injectors lasting long with a 45% increase in power surely?!?!

Plus I don't think any reputable tuner would up a 100bhp car to 145bhp.

well i saw it on http://www.celtictuning.co.uk/Car T...n-golf-MKIV-ecu-remap-chip-engine-tuning.html problem is, insurance im 18 and will have a years no claims in a months time (touch wood) this golf diesel is only group 8

A lot of tunners will remap that car with that gain, the 130s remap to 185bhp ish and the 150s can go to 195bhp with an agressive map. Clutches on the Golfs last OK with a remap all depends on how you drive them, injectors and turbos are strong and very few go wrong standard or remapped.

quite looking forward to getting one

edit: would it be worth getting a new clutch fitted then but i dont wanna spend loads, only looking to spend £1K or so

Well, given that other tuners offer much lower output, I wonder how far Celtic are stretching your car to make the claims on their web site.

As an aside, if they are correct (and I can find no actual evidence that cars have been busted by their remaps) then enjoy your new found power

can you recommend any other remap companies then as id rather not push it to its limits and have to replace lots of stuff when it breaks

What I would do is talk with Celtic and someone like http://www.chippeduk.com who have a good reputation on the VWAudi forum and tell them what you want to do and what they recommend.

Decide who is most reasonable in their suggestions and go from there.

i will talk to celtic about there remaps as it seems a little high, thanks for the info i will be sure to post back when i get it all

The popular tunning companies Revo/Custom Code/Star Performance/AMD/Celtic Tunning all offer a remap that will take the PD100 to 140-145bhp, what companies are offering lower powered remaps ?
