I just watched Spirited Away and thought it was fantastic, brought back fond memories of when disney films used to be good when I was growing up in the 90's. I've been a fan of the gundam and zoe series as well, but havent seen that many anime films. Can anyone reccomend some? :)

All of the Dominion/New Dominion Tank Police series, they're fantastic! You can get the whole of New Dominion on the one DVD so it's not expensive like some series of anime can work out. it's a little dated but it's my favourite anime by a long shot.

Well, if you liked Spirited Away then try Princess Mononoke, Kiki's Delivery Service or My Neighbour Totoro - all by the same guy (Hayao Miyazaki ). Kiki's Delivery Service is probably my favorite.

Laputa is my Favourite, Valley of the Wind is also good, then there is the Cats return, Rocco Posso. I love all of them.

instead of jumping on the "omg ghibli!!!" bandwagon i'll recommend a good alternative... "tokyo godfathers".

awesome anime movie, kind of a sentimental comedy. very touching and also side-splittingly funny in places. not to mention impressive artwork, animation and direction etc...

although you may want to save it for december as it's something of a christmas movie! ;)

Vampire hunter D may be of interest to you.
If you like Gundam (Wing i presume) & Z.O.E. (theres an OAV and TV of this one) i think you will enjoy Martian Successor Nadesico.
Read Or Die (R.O.D) is also a good choice.

Howls Moving Castle is a good one too, abit like spirited away but I think they try and work on the humour more than the innocence.

Blood the Last Vampire is a good Manga film :)

I haven't seen very many decent anime films, I much prefer anime series.

You might like Visions of Escaflowne, you may remember it being on Fox kids but that version was a complete butchering of the original and the original is pretty good

Im suprised at how leaniant the bbfc are with these films just because they are anime, I mean monoke had peoples heads and arms being sliced off and it was only rated pg!

It's nice to see some Japanese culture anyway.

When someone asks me to recommend some anime films/movies I can never come up with much more than what's listed already. Other than general TV anime tie-ins and the Ghibli stuff we all love, do they just not bother with making movie releases?

Anyway.. if you like the lush animation like in GITS2: Innocence, check out a Korean anime - Wonderful Days. Oh, Mind Game was pretty cool in a wierd way too.
