Ah I see now, allocate if a VHD from each physical drive :)

I've got it assigned to each drive rather a VHD. Here:

I'm not sure if i want to go for ESXi or HyperV yet..

Go Hyper-V! :)

I've used ESX since 3.5 so I'm very comfortable with it.. which is why I'm thinking of HyperV instead to get a bit more experience of it.

All set up now, 8gb Ram, ESXi 5, 2008 R2 Enterprise and Freenas VMs.

Just need storage prices to come down now.

dunno lol, just wondered how some of you guys got server2008R2 or hyperV server from, hence i asked the question.

i'm thinking of getting a small server to host few VM's, this HP microserver looks pretty good.

Would be ideal for that... If you up it to 8gb RAM. Either ESXi or Hyper-V would be good.

Hyper-V is available as a free download from Microsoft. This isn’t the same as having a full version of Server 2008 and installing the hypervisor role.

Server 2008 R2 is going to be paid for. I’d guess that there are a lot of students on here that can get it for a song (or even free).

There are a few OEM versions of Windows that can be purchased from HP with the server. They’ll all cost more than the hardware unless something has recently changed.

Yup, if you or someone in your family have an ac.uk address check out Microsoft Dreamspark

Thinking of buying an N40L with the cashback going on. Probably should have bought it when it was cheaper but I stuck to my boxee box and external hard drives.....
Anyway anyone know what the cheapest current price is? I can see it for £250 delivered minus the £100 cashback....

Thanks

Just bought myself an N40L, and ordered 8Gb of memory to go with it. Now I just have to wait a fortnight till I'm home before I can play on it!
