But really for OS drive you just need small seeks transfer speed isnt really helpful past a point, even more so on a server so I would say that 25%-50% increase in cost isnt worth it.

Guys, im prob being a bit daft here, but why cant i read a drive from my HPN54L in another pc, ie physically removing the drive from the server and plugging it in to other PC, it just says drive not initialised. The drive is already GPT formatted, its the 3rd drive in the server, the other 2 are raid 1, so i would expect for them not be able to be read, but this one i would expect to be able to read.
I was just looking to migrate some data from the server to another PC by directly connecting the drives, but it dont wanna know!!!
What am i missing?

Yeah, you may have unplugged one of the RAID disks by mistake.

I use Windows Server, does everything I ask it to really. I prefer being in a familiar environment too.
My server runs in a small cupboard under the stairs, very little airflow. But the CPU temperature over the last 8 days has ranged from 30-68°C which seems pretty good. Only hit the higher temps when I was moving 2TB of data while transcoding 1080p and running deduplication! So not bad for a passively cooled CPU.
