We always have threads about car garages trying to rip us off.

Today my rear driver side tyre was nearly flat, I took it to an indy garage and they said found it to be a faulty valve and fixed it, free of charge:)
Zero attempt to sell me a new set of tyres in any way.

Just wondering who on here has found a garage to be good hearted and not of the rip-off type we hear about all the time.

I have a good mechanic for my Celica GT. I pay trade price for the parts and he gives me a discount on labour. Always does a good job.

My local gargage fixed the knocking on my old ford ka's suspension for free :) However they fleeced my granny for a pre MOT check and the car failed on 2 things they should have checked/fixed.

i took my almera to a skyline specialist after i lowered it to get the geometry done. Dropped it off at 10, they said come back in 2 hours and pick it up. went back in at half 12 and it wasnt done so the manager said "sorry mate, we're taking ages on the car before yours, will get that one off the ramps and yours on asap and you can have it for free, dont like making anyone wait any longer than you have"

I was chuffed :)

Mine gave me recent advice as to where I could obtain the cheapest parts for my car. Also the last time I was there they had a beautiful SS that they were restoring.

I rang about 10 garages on a saturday morning about buzzing a stuck locking wheel nut off, none were interested except for one, and they wouldn't take any money for it.

Maybe a small thing but it saved me much hassle when I needed the car during the week.

ohh, another one Gaijin just reminded me of.

Not really a garage but....i bought 4 toyo tyres off the internet assuming someone would be able to fit them, went round all the local tyre fitters and garages and they all refused.

Then went to the local scrapyard, and they did all 4...for £10 :D didnt balance them, but i got that done when i was getting the geometry done at the skyline specialist :D

I have a friendly jap specialist who is great to deal with and quite local which is one of the main reasons I got another Jap car.

DCMS in Burnley. Graham is a top bloke and spent an hour or so checking the geometry on my SX and balanced the wheels for a total of £0 :D.

Been back for a few other jobs since and will be definitely be going back there again :).

This is true, I have a BMW specialist <1 mile from my work and another <1 mile from my home.

My next car will probbably be a BMW because of this, even though I really want a Jag.

The guy I use is ace, rounds bills down to the nearest tenner. when my exhaust was blowing he identified the cat and the rear section had been bolted together badly so had to burn out the bolts, re-seal and put new bolts in and charged nothing for that. He even brought my car to work for me last night as I couldn't get to pick it up.

Mind, I was his small business manager for several years and having bought some cheap land on my advice, is now sitting on his retirement fund due to local redevelopment...
