Good idea to splash out £9k on a '04 coupe?

It is a shame, because its a fantastic car. I want it. But then if I did decide to go for an M5, like anyone else who can justify the costs of it I'd simply... buy a facelift one instead. That one is eventually going to die at the hands of a chimp :(

It's the same with other stuff. Who wants a £4k W220 S Class? Really? Whats the point? You buy it and a month later pay £2k when the airmatic breaks. If you can swallow that and think 'doh' then.. well... you wouldnt have bought a £4k S Class would you, you wouldnt need to fish at the bottom of the pond. So clueless numpties buy them, and then flog them on even cheaper when stuff breaks.

Sigh.

Mercedes and BMW need to come round and collect them when they get too far gone :D

Sort of like a nursing home for nearly dead cars ;)

dread to think what will happen to mine :(

The worst thing is that it drags down the value of the decent ones at the other end of the market as well.

Much of the reason my car is worth 20p is because ***** Bob down the road has one on an X plate with a load of dents and no history for 2 grand.

I dont see that, yours is so far removed from ***** bobs that it might as well be a different car. Buyers must surely realise that.

Not at this end of the market they dont. You could have the most perfect car in the world if people wont even bother to call up about it how do they know?

I reccon you would sell yours easily through here if you mentioned it was for sale :)

Absolutely, he would - I'd be tempted myself tbh - thing is, this is a niche here, we all know Fox, and his anal (no disrespect) attitude toward his e39.

It would be a bargain for somebody, alas, the general buying public see "180k miles" or whatever its on now and assume its a worthless nail.

I'd argue his is probably one of the best e39's in the country. Seriously.

For somebody wise enough to follow the "Buy on condition not age nor mileage" advice thats offered here frequently, they would not go far wrong imo.
