Good mumsy car

First thing I thought was New MINI. They're still the in thing with the ladies.

Cooper S shifts too.

Edit - after seeing fox's usual rather predictable comments, you may diss leyland fan boys, but you're the original Mondeo fanboy who's now wharfing into a bmw fanboy. Everyone likes what they like and I'd rather you not say that all leyland fan boys hate the new MINI as most of them like it. Myself included, as a machine - it's good. I drive my Mini because I havent found anything that I can afford to insure that puts such a wild smile on my face everytime I drive it.
Oh and the new Mini has TERRIBLE rear seat space. I often have 4 6'+ lads in my car comfortably. It's just the getting in and out thats the problem :D

Oh and jamez couldn't grow a beard if he tried :D :p

Just trying to think what the M3 does that a 320Ci Cab wouldn't do equally that Jez's Mum, who isnt a 'car person', would appreciate.

Other than the massive running costs and purchase price, obviously.

I'll let you know if I think of anything :p

It looks more flash, especially in some colours. One of my friend's mum has one.

No non-petrolhead would notice the difference between an M3 and a 320Ci.

She did, and she's not a petrol head. There's the prestige of it being the top 3 series, which sounds exactly like what Jez's mum is after.

It's a lot of money though, surely the more modern looking 330ci Sport Cabriolet would be a better bet. The M3 is not a cheap car to run.

I dont think an M3 is suitable, for a start they are £30k+, then we have the servicing and insurance etc, totally not worth it for her.

I am going to push for a 330 cabrio, failing that a 320 cabrio. But be open to the mini cooper s cabrio as she seems to love that :)

I do not like the new mini, although I am bearded...

echoing the 3 series coupe, plenty of engine choices

Can I be a little different and say a E46 cab?

Oh wait.... :o

Seems to tick all the boxes. As too does the new Mini. I've been in the back of one and found it fine, as to my 6ft 3" mate. So it is useable. I wouldn't like to be in there for a 300mile journey but you could say that about most hatchbacks :p
