Good price for an Ultra?

Hi all,

Took delivery of my XFX 8800 Ultra XXX edition (Clock @ 675mhz, Mem @ 2.3Ghz)
for €630 or £425 sterling. Good price or not? I was looking at a GTX but this was slightly more so opted for it instead.

thats very good price for an XXX version, i would be tempted at that price!

if only i had the money :<

but it may reflect the price drops that are happening around this time.

good price but pray that nothig goes wrong with it, XFX got the worst customer support ever.

Over 400 for a gfx card I highly doubt I could ever bring myself to spend that much on one, will be an absoloute monster though

I bought my OCZ 8800GTX for just over £300 brand new, OCZ Lifetime warranty is transferable so will hold a good price when selling, plus they are cherry picked for overclocking.

I would have just bought a GTX & overclocked it - save yourself a good £100+

are they slow or something, because i had a good rma service when my 5200 broken, same goes to asus really they were both great, times may have changed though :<

Not so long ago XF used to be the el cheapo new make like PNY, but they built a good rep and had superfast factory overclocked cards.
Obv something has went wrong if this store wont deal with them now.

Theyre basically crap with RMA's and thats why ocuk dont stock them.

Yeah maybe OcUK not making enough profit out of us selling cheapo XFX cards maybe lol

I read it was more down to failure rates and bad RMA service (not sure if true)

OcUK used to sell them, I havent got a clue why they stopped selling them because they were cherry picked for overclocking, plus they come with a lifetime guarantee from OCZ. :confused:

It isnt too hard to find using your web browser.

the reason is that xfx state that any faulty card should be returned to the retailer which will dive a diect swap out for a new card. the retailer will then sort out the rma directly with xfx. this ensures the least downtime for the user.

now ocuk tend to stock cards that are direct rma to manufacturer mostly, its to cut down dealing with rma;s.

how do i know this? my local pc shop sells xfx cards and thats how they deal with returns on them. and from looking at other etailors online they deal with rma's in the same way, all other shops seem to do 1sst year rma with the retailer and any longer then 1 year warranty is handled by manufacturer direct.

Yes but ocuk found XFX ways too slow and were wasting time so they just didnt sell XFX cards.

If I had bad card I would expect OCUK to swap it after testing and give me a new card, thats law in UK 1 year shop is warrenty holder.

One time xfx were the sweetest brand, now just bad news though some other companies are just as bad. BFG and EVGA are the ones to trust with NV. Sapphire for ATI imo

I was told by Andy at OCUK that it was 30 days and then it was sent back to manufacture for replacement. Annoying that the law isn't clear or shops aren't following the law though thats business i suppose.

Nope AFAIK it's law 1 year return to base.
