Hello,

So at the moment I have a Logitech 2.1 speaker system which has a stonking big sub, it's just too much for my current situation and I want to save some room.

What can I get for 2 speakers? The speakers are going to be on the desk so need to be reasonably flat to stay out the way of the screens, I don't have room for a proper stereo amp really. I'm not looking for super loudness just reasonable sound quality for music, TV etc.

Which Logitech system?
Depending on the above, you may find something like the Edifier ones fit well - They look about the size of the satellite speakers in, say, the Logitech Z333 system but also don't need the sub.

It's this one but I can't remember the name.

The problem I'm having is bookshelf speakers are going to be too big on the desk. I could try a very little amp and just plug the existing satellite speakers into it.

They're the Z2300. Shame Logitech stopped making them, because they were very good.

According to the specs the satellites are 8 Ohm, so you could use another amplifier. At least they aren't like the satellites you get with all in one DVD based 5.1 systems from Sony etc, which are an obscure 3 Ohm and won't work with anything else.

As they are satellites though, the probably wont provide hardly any bass at all, because they're designed to work with the subwoofer, which provides all the bass. Without the subwoofer, the sound might be somewhat tinny.

If bookshelf speakers are going to be too large, what about Creative Gigaworks T20?

Similar size to the Z2300 satellites, but provide decent sound and have a decent amount of bass for their size due to the bass xport.

We have the Ruark Mr1's in our bedroom rigged up to our pc and a musical fidelity V90 DAC so we have sound for PC via usb and for normal tv via optical. Few reviews that don't like them but its the same with most audio and visual people have different tastes to what they hear and see. And we love the Ruarks. But they come at a price of £299 and there best suited with a Dac so its not the cheapest set to opt for but if you like decent sound then Active speakers are proberly the best to go for already have an amp so it will save you room

That's a good looking setup you have there. Also heard good things about the A2's.

Can you tell me where you got the shelf unit for the monitor?

Thank you. I'm really pleased with the A2's - I've owned Logitechs and Creatives in the past but been disappointed. Whilst the stands are not particularly cheap, they do make a differerend also, primariliy because they angle the speakers upwards.

The shelf / monitor stand is DIY - like pretty much everything in my room!
