Good reason to leave a job?

I'm currently working in a pub but I'm looking for work elsewhere (partly because I want to work longer hours but also because I'm not that fond of bar work). I've sent off some applications for other retail/customer service orientated jobs. Should I be invited to an interview I imagine I'll be asked why I want to leave my current job and I doubt they want to hear "because I need more hours" or "because I didn't really like it there".

What's a good answer to that question?

"because you want to work more hours" and "because you don't like working there"

.. why do so many people think it is bad to tell the truth when applying for jobs?

Nothing wrong with saying that you wish to work more hours.

You could also just say that while you have enjoyed your current position you are seeking something more challenging for the future.

Just tell them you’re had enough of being in a low paid dead end job that doesn’t offer you any challenges.
