Right guys my mum is changing her car from a 2006 ford KA to a 2007 Vauxhall astra , one of the top trim models. Will it be a big upgrade , worth the money?

What are her reasons for changing it, why an Astra, and how much will it cost (being financed?).

Reason's for changing - She wants 4 doors and more space and just a nicer bigger car with some option's on it. She will be a getting it a lot cheaper due to having family that work at the dealership in question.

I think it depends on how much cheaper is 'a lot cheaper'. The Astra is not a brilliant car and normally I'd advise you not to buy one but if its considerably cheaper than its competition as a result of the deal they can offer it might make sense.

KA to an Astra is a decent upgrade, although many will disagree. Good cars and definatly a bit more spacey than the KA.

You must be careful not to make the mistake of thinking a poor car is a good upgrade simply because the current car is beyond poor.

If you drive a Trabant a Kia Carens is an upgrade - but it doesn't mean a Golf wouldnt be a better upgrade..

Yes it is considerably cheaper than the focus ect.

4k for a 2007 design 1.6 16v astra , 30,000 miles.
also due to having family which work for the dealer in question she will be able to have servicing and parts ect at a discounted rate.
