Our only smart speaker is in the bedroom, so if a visitor is able to trigger it, they have consented to way more anyway ;)

Not having that **** anywhere near me, having a phone is bad enough. I have literally no need for these things.

The only reason you'd have to disclose your use of them is if the guest is under surveilance... which would only be true if Google were indeed spying on us through these things.
Sounds like an admission to me!!

Does falling into your trap actually constitute consent, though? :p

Well you could always toggle the microphone off if they were that bothered...

How nice of you to throw away your dad's new device.

    My parents love their Alexa.

The button that illuminates a light but does nothing else? :p

I have a couple of Amazon Alexa's and think they are great. If Amazon want to hear me talking nonsense to the kids then so be it.

My dad loves his echo plus, although the only thing he seems to know how to do with it, is to get it to play Rolling Stones songs.

Don't go round your mates and confess to crimes.

Or anything really, legal too. This might have a significant impact on anyone considering asking a friend or relative for confidential advice, if that conversation is being monitored and filtered by a smart device.
