You're probably better off waiting for now to see how these new "regulations" will actually play out. So far we don't know how the social networks/devices will actually do the checks.

Probably, I'm just a bit conscious that phones are probably only going to get more expensive due to AI hoovering up all the ram/chips/storage.
Audio is still skipping on my XM5 earbuds. For some reason toggling "Disable Bluetooth A2DP hardware offload" doesn't work, it asks to restart but it doesn't enable. This setting usually solved previous BT issues I had.
So far the only thing I helped was dropping the sample rate from 32-bit to 24-bit, it still skips a little more than before the update, but not enough to affect music. Unfortunately, it reverts back to 32-bit when I disconnect the earbuds and reconnect again. Hopefully a future update will fix it.

Randomly since last night a few of the games I play suddenly started crashing after trying to start them up (Clash Royale, Egg Inc, Pokémon GO, etc.). Force stopping those apps in settings then clearing cache seems to solve it.
Overall though with A17, every other app does feel smoother, especially with scrolling, so there has been some upsides to this update at least, but does look like it needs some bug fixes too.

My last few comments have been about Android 17. So far it's mostly fine but some little bugs.
Can't decide if I want to take the current Pixel 10 Pro deal on GiffGaff or just wait and contemplate the new phones when they release... I currently have the Pixel 6, which I bought refurbished a few years ago and it's been great. I'd mostly just like a change but I do sort of worry about the phone as I bought my partner a Pixel 6 at the same time and then an update came out last year I think it was that completely bricked her phone, nothing you do would turn it on and it doesn't charge.

I have, and if there's changes made then they must be subtle.
I think the GiffGaff deal on the 10a was a bargain.
The problem for me is that the 10/10Pro seem to be mid-range hardware with a flagship price given a bit of a fluff with AI.
I got a P10PXL a few days ago as a replacement for my P8P. It works just as good. I can't perceive any real difference other than the build quality and construction being markedly improved.
I managed to snag it for £780 without a trade-in, but would say that it's much the same thing outside of the externals. I only bought this because I broke my P8P and the repair price was not economical.

I thought I'd just get another pixel but going to try something different I reckon. Just got a Xiaomi 17 for the Mrs. Only got it yesterday but it seems great and at 6.3 it's a nice size. Been looking at the ultra for myself although it's a big slab.
I would still have my 6 if I didn't seem to religiously drop my phone every 2 years!
The pixel experience is hard to beat. I tried a OnePlus 15 before going for the P10PXL and it just doesn't gel right with me. I find too many things about OxygenOS (RIP Cyanogenmod) gripe me.
Really. I find it excellent on the whole.

The one thing I'll be glad to see the back off on the 6 is the garbage finger print sensor. It's never worked right. WiFi calling has never really worked either.
Indeed, it's not the raw Android experience that started with AOSP/Cyanogenmod like on the OP1 (such a great phone). Google has been killing that initiative with every passing year, though. I really don't like some of the OxygenOS customisations. Example: the red 1 on clocks really boils my **** in ways I cannot describe. It's fine if they want that but you cannot turn it off. Bugs the hell out of me.
I had forgotten all about how poor that was. I switched from, I think a OnePlus 5T with a rear sensor, and it was a huge downgrade other than the fingerprint being under the screen.

As much as I hate the rainforest, prime day was a good time to get one discounted. I got my P10PXL for £780 (£653 excl VAT). You may have to wait for an end of summer sale for the next significant price drop.
Google (Pro-XL) are giving just £265 with Samsung (S26) offering £483.00 on my S25 Ultra.
That brings both phones down to a nice £634 and £796.00.
As you say, I might wait till the end of summer, which hopefully will see more price drops and give me more time to see if the Pro-XL can give me what the S25 offers + more.
