Google Pixel 11 Series (11/11 Pro/11 Pro XL/11 Pro Fold & Pixel Watch 5)

I do think phone have basically "stalled" out over the last few years - nothing new or exciting, just tweaks/slight updates if anything.

The days of the massive leaps in tech/cameras/processors/storage etc are gone.

I am not sure what to do about my pixel 8. I usually skip a generation. So would usually have upgraded to the 10. It just seemed like such a minor upgrade. I was hoping the 11 would bring something new. Although I guess I can't actually think of what a something new could be.

I'm looking forward to this although feels like diminishing returns now as no real areas left to innovate in. It all depends on pricing esp the trade up launch offers.

I found there was a notable leap in real world performance between my Pixel 8 and 10 but the 10 pro xl only equalled my S23u. I run both Google and Samsung for business/ personal.

Im ok with anything post 2023 just being minor optimisations, better battery life and Ai integrations; ignoring the synthetic benchmarks that don't seem to offer much perfomance change in real world use.

The real question is, will it have good battery life? I have been unimpressed with my 10 Pro being worse then my old 6 Pro.

At this point I'm more concerned about battery degrading and the forced software max battery capacity that seems to have happened with both 6 and 7 series.

Apparently there is also some software date that has caused problems with Wifi/BT for 8 owners. This seems like a trend that Pixel phones won't even get close to a 4-5 year lifecycle nevermind the 7 years of software updates.

The Samsung user experience is dire compared to native Google /android. It's night and day. Can't even " add me" on Samsung phones. I have an asset agreement with Google so will get this early with preferential trade in which is useful.

Similar thoughts myself. I have a Pixel 8 Pro that is great. It does everything I ask of it and also does many more things I really don't need or use. Any 'upgrade' feels almost a side-grade. A bit more ram, another half dozen megapixel camera when I don't take many pictures and a slightly bigger battery to help with all the extra background processes they've crammed in.

Ditto for me. Got an 8 Pro that does what I need it to do. I was going to upgrade to the 10 Pro/Pro XL but there just wasn't enough new to justify the cost. I hope the 11 Pro/Pro XL might have enough improvements in CPU that the battery lasts a bit longer. I do feel though that the 8 Pro is starting to feel like it could do with being upgraded. I might keep it as a spare at home so that if I lose the 11 at work then I have a backup phone but then I could just get a basic 10 or 11 to act as a spare.
