Google Pixel 9 Series (9/9a/9 Pro/9 Pro XL/9 Pro Fold & Pixel Watch 3)

Nearly time for a dedicated thread

Overhauled cam system my backside. Still the same basic guff on the Pros since almost pixel 6 pro. Tiny sensors on the telephoto and no additional 3x. Yet they're charging top dollar.

I still enjoy by 8 pro but they aren't getting my money for the 10 series with that lame effort. I pre emted their laziness hence I now carry a xiaomi 15 ultra alongside my 8 pro. Looks like the 8 Pro will be the first phone I keep for 3 years.

Looking at a pixel 9a for my mrs to replace her 7 (primarily wants a better fingerprint sensor) - any info on this? Apparently it's not as good as the ultrasonic sensor in the 9/ 9pro xl that I have.

Edit: bought - 350 trade in value on pixel 7 seemed good so under 150 for upgrade after cashback

They're offering £294 for a 7a on tradein, against the £499 for the 9a.

£200 for a fresh, bigger battery, new phone, reset the support timer....and nicer looking handset. Think I may bite.
Yup not a bad deal...

Though it depends on how much you paid for the 7a and how long you've had it.

7 series get 5 years support from release date now doesn't it?

I've ordered ... £267 trade-in for my 2.5 year old 6a .... and when I got that it was reduced to £320 in the Google "celebration sale" with £200 trade-in for my previous 4a in a rare overlap of enhanced trade-in and reduced prices!

What's the thoughts comparing between the new 9a and the 9 / 9 Pro, in particular from a camera perspective?

I've been holding out for the 9 Pro with the telephoto lens being of particular interest, but I'm starting to wonder if it's really worth the substantial extra over something like the 9a.

Coming from a Pixel 5 so one thing that has been putting me off is that 9 / 9 Pro are ~30% heavier than what I have, not to mention larger. 9a is still larger, but not quite as much of a weight increase. It doesn't seem like they have much interest in going back to Pixel 5 sized phones, but I need to move to something newer with the 5 being long out of software support now.

If you need to ask then probably no you won't notice difference in camera quality. If you're pushing it and trying to eek out the best in low light or in pro mode then yes.

I went from a non Pro 6 to an 8 Pro. The difference the telephoto lens makes to pictures quality was very noticeable for me. I think it's that good I will buy another 'Pro' version pixel for that alone.
I do take lots of pictures at range. Also the macro lens is very good too but I don't use that much.

I've now got 75 quids worth of store credit and wondering about picking up a pixel watch 3 45mm or save it for the 10 pro. Hmmmmm.

I had the watch 3 for about a week and sent it back. I couldn't get on with it needing to be charged a lot more often than my versa 4. It always needed charging at inconvenient times too, save it for the 10 pro:D
