Google Pixel 9 Series (9/9a/9 Pro/9 Pro XL/9 Pro Fold & Pixel Watch 3)

At some point last week, I was also getting the ? over the battery capacity icon in the notification shade although interestingly, I was only getting it when the device was unfolded. When folded, I was getting a battery capacity reading on the front screen.

Google's return process was infuriating. I was offered two options, a standard return where they inspect the device and will send out a replacement if the issue is found to be a non-user related fault, or an advanced option where a new device would be dispatched first and a held put against a payment option for them to charge against after inspecting my returned device. I tried to advanced option, but my current address was greyed out and selecting "add a new address" would make the payment options disappear with a continuous loading circle. I tried different browsers, going into my Google account and deleting my old address and ensuring my new one was set to my legal address. Nothing worked.

I spoke to support who manually raised the return, but they put the reason for the return as "blank screen" despite me telling them it related to the battery ? mark. I cancelled that return as I didn't want them charging me because the screen worked when that was the reported fault. I ended up having to use the non-advanced option and I'm using an old S7 Edge I have knocking around in my work chest of drawers. Not great as things like my banking app will not work.

It's interesting that another forum member has reported the same not long ago on their P9 Pro Fold.

I'll keep the thread updated.

I went with the non-advanced option too in fear they might try to charge me for any extra damage. Took photos of the phone from all angles, folded and unfolded as well as how it was boxed up before being sent just in case,

Reported damage says "Power problem", after inspection it changed to "Battery problem".

Luckily once it arrived at their repair centre it did go smoothly, and the replacement 10 Fold did arrive about a week after. Still trying to sell it though, did grab the normal 10 Pro with my own money which I've been happy with so far.

Yeah I saw your post in the MM and was half tempted due to having a few issues with my P9 Pro Fold, it had also started to not automatically reconnect to the network after losing signal during my commute - the losing signal bit was normal due to driving through a patchy area of signal but the having to reboot to get signal back once at work wasn't. So perhaps this battery issue has come at a good time.

Google have inspected my device and I'm being charged £146 due to a screen crack, with the other option to be not to pay and get my device back unrepaired (reminder, it has been sent back for the battery question mark of death as it's referred to oneline).

So there was a tiny chip at the very top of the front of the phone near the slot where the ear piece is, which has nothing to do with the battery issue considering others are having issues with the question mark of death and apparently, Google extended warranty late 2025 due to this battery issue.

However, for £146, they're sending a Pixel 10 Pro Fold so I'm just going to pay it.

Mum is upgrading her phone from a Galaxy S8 and I think the 9a is the way to go. The other option is something a Poco but software support will be better with the 9a.

In settings, search for 'Battery' and then you can find the capacity under 'Battery health' and the First Use/Cycle Count under 'Battery information'.

Identifying the model and how you usually charge it is up to you, though :p
I think I'm being a bit blind. Where do you find "battery information" in the menus please?
